BOURNI ANGELIKI (KELLY)

Biography

I was born in Athens, Greece in 1967. I graduated from the school of tourist guides in Athens in 1987. The three year program covers the history and archaeology of Greece from the paleolithic period to modern times. After 1987 I continued my studies in France and in 1992 I obtained a masters degree from the Paris IV Sorbonne university.

In 2002 I attended a two month seminar at the Rodin museum and the Louvre museum. In 2003 I attended a seminar in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Through these educational programs I got to know their collections in depth and I acquired a different perspective on ways to approach the public. I still stay informed on their activities and temporary exhibits.

In Athens I attend the conferences and seminars organized by the American School of Classical Studies, the British School of Athens, the Ecole Française d'Athènes, the Benaki Museum, the Museum of Cycladic Art, the Byzantine Museum, the Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum.

For more than two decades I have been working as a professional tourist guide and I have enjoyed every moment. I love my country and I conduct tours on all the sites and museums of Greece. I am based in Athens and I can propose tailor made tours for every visitor. Among the guests I have guided over the years are many official delegations, friends of museums, scholars, TV personalities and foreign television networks. I have also worked for the olympic committee and several embassies and greek ministries.

In my free time I like reading, going to the cinema, the theater and the opera. Above all I love to travel. Seeing new places and meeting new people is extremely rewarding.
