International Tourist Guide Day

"A TOURIST GUIDE is a person who guides visitors in the language of their choice and interprets the cultural and natural heritage of an area which person normally possesses an area-specific qualification usually issued and/or recognised by the appropriate authority."

So always check out wherever you' re going and whatever place you're visiting to have a licensed tourist guide.

On the 21st of February is the International Tourist Guide Day, when guides from all over the world make their profession and its troubles known to the people. This year there was the coincidence that it took place the annual meeting of the Panhellenic Federation of Tourist Guides. Hot topics were discussed during this meeting, that have to do with the problems this profession faces especially in Greece and how they can be solved. Afterwards this meeting closed with a big lunch, where guides from all over the country showed their cooperation and good relations.
