The National Glyptotheque is one of the important, but not much known museums of Athens. It's located in Athens, in an area of 6500 m2 in the Army Park in Goudi. It's an annex of the National Gallery of Greece.

The sculpture, which was brought out as the main art of the Politeia (the Republic of ancient Athens), is strongly connected with the city of Athens.

The museum is based in two buildings of the former royal stables, which were renovated with great care. It was inaugurated in 2004 with a retrospective exhibition of Henry Moore and the wood sculptures by Christos Capralos.

A big part of the permanent exhibition is dedicated to the great sculptor Yannoulis Halepas. His pieces of art together with his tragic life leave the visitors astonished.

There is also a dialogue between Greek artists, such as Drosis, Vroutos, Philippotis, Kapralos and Papagiannis together with foreign sculptors, for example Magritte, Rodin, Bourdelle, Calatrava and Schwanthaler.

A hidden gem, in the heart of Athens where someone can trace the Modern Greek sculpture from its earliest beginnings to the present day.
