Volunteering, as we have mentioned many times, is part of the life of the guides, not only as professionals, but as human beings as well that want to assist in their way the people in need.
The last days of March this belief led us to many voluntary guided tours, that had as result the creation of a new friendship! The new friends were the students of the Professional School of Training for People with Disabilities of Athens.
On Wednesday 22nd of March the students of the 1st and 2nd year of the Department "Accounting" visited the New Acropolis Museum. Their guide and colleague, Nancy Androutsopoulou, led them through the rooms of the museum, but also they travelled though different time eras and periods of times of the city of Athens (pics 1-2)
On Thursday 30th of March the students of 1st and 2nd year of the Department "Design and Construction of Websites" visited the same place (the New Acropolis Museum). This time their guide was Gemma Economopoulou (pic 3)
And on Friday the 31st of March the students of the Department "Icon Painting" visited the Museum of Islamic Art of the Benaki Museum. With their guide and colleague Konstantina Griva they came into contact to another world and culture (pics 4-6)
Even though the first time you get to know with a new person is a little bit awkward, it didn't take much time to come over this feeling and it was replaced by smiles, interest and warm feelings!
We warmly thank the Professional School of Training for People with Disabilities of Athens for its trust and fondness and we are looking forward to new activities!
And of course we should thank our colleagues that responded once again to this request, honoring with the best way the profession of a Licenced Tourist Guide!
Part of Culture is not only the achievements of the people but their Ethos and Spirit! They define us all!
