Volunteering is an important part of the role of guide, not only as part of the profession but as a human being as well. The Association of Licensed Tourist Guides, Athens-Greece had the pleasure to fulfil the request of The HOME Project by offering a guided tour to children- refugees. 16 children from different countries (eg Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria etc) visited on Sunday 12th of March the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum.
Even though they were young in age, they showed their enthusiasm and interest to learn about these monuments, ask questions about the statues and take pictures with the temples as background.
The Association of Licensed Tourist Guides Athens-Greece enjoyed the company of the children and their chaperones on special Sunday afternoon.
For the ones that are interested @The HOME Project is a non governmental organization that takes care of unaccompanied children and gives the chances to intergrade in the society and grow into active citizens. In 14 homes it offers safety, shelter and support to more than 990 lone children.
We would like to thank once again The Home Project that gave us this chance to get to know to these children and help them with pur own way and as well all the licensed guides that volunteer every single opportunity!
